Many people suffer from wrist pain related to tendonitis. Tendonitis is an inflammation of one or more tendons, typically caused by repetitive overuse of a joint, resulting in wear and tearing of the affected tendon(s). Many motions common in sports, mechanical work, assembly line work, typing, and writing with a pen produce the sort of risk flexion which results in tendonitis. Tendonitis involving the wrist is referred to as tenosynovitis, but is often simply referred to as wrist tendonitis.
Aside from wrist pain, common symptoms of wrist tendonitis include:
· Redness and a sense of warmth around the tendons
· Swelling of the wrist, sometimes extending into the hand
· Grinding sensations when flexing the risk (known as crepitus)
· Stiffness and inability to bend
· Tenderness in the wrist and forearm
Shockwave Therapy Treatment
Shockwave therapy (ESWT) is an effective, non-invasive treatment for many forms of wrist pain associated with tendonitis. The FDA-cleared treatment used focused high-energy acoustic waves to stimulated injured tissues. This stimulation increases blood flow and the generation of new nerves and blood vessels, kick-starting the body’s natural healing processes. Patients experience improvements in pain and swelling after the very first treatment, and experience a complete or nearly complete cessation of pain after going through the full treatment regimen.
MYOSYTETM’s shockwave therapy is non-surgical treatment of tendonitis that avoids many of the inherent risks of surgical intervention. ESWT is also preferable to potentially habit-forming painkillers. While it’s currently unclear as to why shockwave therapy works, numerous studies and patient studies have shown that it provides a great deal of relief to the majority of patients who undergo treatment.
